Jasper Conran patchwork dress- SS13 collection

AWESOME!, Is all I can say after I stumbled on this picture during one of my 'wanderings' around the cyber world. :) looking for style ideas for a dress I'm about to make, to attend a birthday party today! : D  I love patchwork like this..but its very tricky, it requires a high level of technicality,creativity and accuracy. I think the less stressful method is the rectangular piecing(sewing strips). This dress has the hexagon pattern (hard or what?!), hence 'should' cost a fortune.I respect this designer and the seamstresses(they are the real workers).. Whew!

So I've done a quick reality check, and I have come to a conclusion that with my level of sewing expertise, I can confidently make any one these less stressful,less time consuming and equally stunning garments instead.  : P  However, I have accepted the challenge of making some hexagonal ones in future. (Battle line is drawn! Funmi Vs Jasper Conran ¬_¬)

I am so inspired,feel like to make one right now!, so I'm on a fabric-rampage,Be warned!.^_^

A gift from someone special...

   Hey there!..Hope you are well.. As cold as usual, no sign of spring yet!Ohwell!
  Anyway, the dress I have on in the picture(left) is a gift to me from someone special for Christmas.Its a size 8L dress from River Island. Its a Jersey/Knit/stretchy fabric and I love the print on it.
   However, I realised that it doesn't suit my frame well. So here are the cons;
1) Slim Girls and V-necks are not friends!
2)I am not a great fan of 'Midis or Capri pants/trousers', because I 'think' my legs look weird in them. :P
3)A-line cut is not famous on Jersey fabrics, especially on slim girls....makes you look 'lost'!
       Whew! The good news is that I love the Fabric+Print+Design(part), therefore I shall 'tweak' here and there to find my perfect fit! Wish me luck and I shall post the 'after' pictures.
PS: Don't forget to let me know what you think,suggestions are welcome...
PPS: Original colour is pink(right) :D..Heheheeh

Ankara Dress+ Dodgy head tie..

Hope you are well...Here's a little story surrounding the completion of my new outfit. Hope you like it.!!
  So sometimes early last year, my friend and I purchased some yards of Ankara fabric-12 yards to be precise( 6 yards each). It was meant to be a traditional wedding costume but you know, stuff came up..we forgot about it.
  Late last year, around December, I decided to make mine into a dress for the Christmas service. Lol- I laugh when I remember why it wasn't completed in time for church- The electricity meter tripped off!!
I didn't know whether to cry or  to laugh :/  Anyway, that put PAID to my plans for having a 'nice' Christmas outfit.
     Okay now I thought well, here comes new year I should be able to do that as I was going to be away. Long story short....I was full of so much excitement that I cut my sleeves so small, I couldn't get my arms out of the dress, there was an error in the way I drafted the pattern :( So I abandoned it yet again!!!    
NB: can you see a trend here??-uh uhn! Procrastination :( 

    Until now! (drum rolls)!!! have I managed to complete it, made few adjustments along the way though.
And here's the finished product!!!!!

Azonto Praise and Worship!!!

Hiya!..
   Brrrrrrrr..! Its still so cold but, its winter its expected. Some days ago, I decided to watch some programmes on TV ( e.g Man Vs Food, Nollywood movies, Music-of no particular genre)  for the first time in Ages!!! Taking a short break from seeing movies and this-n-that on my laptop in the privacy of my room. *covers face*  :D  
   The Nollywood movie is titled Loyal Enemies ,main actors in this movie are Aky and Popo (pictured below) ..so hilarious that I got a headache from laughing out too loud!.

 Then I scrolled on to another channel in the spirit of excitement, an episode of  'Meet the Adebanjos' was just starting- I had never had a chance to see any episodes prior to that time, despite its popularity.

   Anyway, I recorded this little clip which I found really funny, it features the pastor doing the 'Azonto dance 'during the praise session. I hope you do enjoy it..lol

DIY Fashion

Hi there!! 

   So I was doing some cleaning in my room, then decided to swap my present duvet cover with fresh clean ones. I remembered my Mum gave a pretty duvet cover some weeks before(which I thought I wouldn't need)..hmm.. it smells really nice too!... 

  I started to insert my duvet into the fresh cover....OOPS! turns out, the cover was of a smaller size than my duvet :(   the colours are SO pretty!!   Anyway, moving on, now I want to make other little projects from the fabric because the colours are too pretty to go to waste. However, I need ideas.....Pls Help!.
